What are LVDS Cable Assemblies?
Low-Voltage Differential Signaling (LVDS) is a technology addressing the needs of today’s high-performance data transmission applications. LVDS is a low-voltage differential signaling system which is an electrical system and can run at very high speeds over inexpensive, twisted-pair, stranded copper cables. These twisted pairs maintain the 100ohm differential impedance required by LVDS data signals. LVDS has become a preferred differential standard due to its capability of delivering high data rates while consuming less power than any other interfacing technology. LVDS uses high-speed analog circuit techniques to provide multi-gigabit data transfers on copper interconnects and is a generic interface standard for high-speed data transmission. This is why the LVDS standard is becoming the most popular differential data transmission standard in the industry.
What Connectors Does Quadrangle Support?
Our clients often ask us, “What Connectors Do You Support?”
Quadrangle strives to support all popular connectors seen on various components and peripherals throughout every industry. We are always adding new connectors and crimps/terminals. In some cases, we can support new connectors on existing tooling and equipment. To confirm this, we may need to purchase sample crimps in REEL FORM (for semi-automated equipment) to test them. Quadrangle will gladly do this, however, if you would like to expedite this process — customers are always welcome to inquire with Quadrangle Engineers first (with a spec sheet), and upon the Engineer confirming, the customer can supply the crimps to us for testing (REEL FORM ONLY). Customer-supplied material is often the more efficient and quicker way to confirm if we can support the new connector series for your upcoming cable needs.

- Inquire with our Engineers to answer any and all questions
- Flying Leads available for all connectors
What are Flat Flexible Cables (FFC)?
FFCs (Flat Flexible Cables) consist of multiple flat conductors insulated with a flexible plastic film that is laid out with conductors that are straight. FFCs are available in many pitches such as 0.5mm, 1.00mm and 1.25mm. FFCs typically have a stiffener attached to the opposite side of the contact portion to be inserted into a connector. They are simple one-to-one hookup jumpers found on LCDs, mother boards, touch screens, cameras and other various devices.
What Does Flex Mean for Custom Cables?
Flexibility, as the term suggests, pertains to the ability of a cable to bend, twist, or be pulled without resistance. Imagine an extension cord that you can effortlessly loop or coil without kinks or an ethernet cable that can seamlessly navigate the tight confines behind a desk. That ease of movement, the degree to which the cable can adapt to immediate demands, defines its flexibility.
The need for flexibility arises from various scenarios:
- Space Constraints: In environments where space is a premium, cables may need to navigate tight bends.
- Portability: Devices that are frequently moved can benefit from cables that are easily coiled and uncoiled.
- Integration: In complex systems where cables must integrate with various components, flexibility can simplify installation and maintenance.
